the way the left is reacting, you'd think brewer greeted obama with a burning cross and hood UPDATE X2

"Profoundly offensive", "racist", "disrespectful", "unprecedented", "vulgar and rude"...

The far lesser seen image from that same greeting...I wonder why:

“This is nothing more, and I’ll just say it straight up. There are some people, not all, in this country who cannot stand the fact that this is an African-American who is now one of the most powerful individuals on the planet. And there are those who cannot consciously and subconsciously handle it.”

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry, meanwhile, said the image of Brewer wagging her finger in the President’s face reminded her of the famous 1957 photo of Elizabeth Eckford and Hazel Bryan.

Seriously?

“Were you trying to create a scene here?” King asked. “There are some people suggesting you wanted to have a scene with the president so you could sell more of your books.”

But, funny enough, what no one, as far as I have seen, bothers to show you, is the footage of President Obama as he was greeted by Governor Brewer:

Really? That was disrespectful...tense...racist?

And this was the letter she handed him:

Dear Mr. President,
Welcome to Arizona!
You‘ve arrived in a state at the forefront of America’s recovery — and her future. We were at the brink. We were at the bottom of the list in job creation. Today, we have a balanced budget and we’re in the top 10 for job creation.
I’m proud of that hard-won recovery — the result of many tough decisions, courage and perseverance.
My hope is while you are here you will have a chance to see our tremendous results first hand.
We both love the great country, but we fundamentally disagree on how to best make America grow and prosper once again. I‘d love an opportunity to share with you how we’ve been able to turn Arizona around with hard choices that turned out to be the right ones.
And, of course, my offer to visit the border — and buy lunch — still stands!
With respect,
Jan

This is a snippet of the email Democrats are using to raise campaign dollars. Does this accurateness reflect Brewer's letter?
Instead of welcoming the President at the airport with dignity and decency, she presented him with a demand letter that he accompany her in a visit to the border. And wagging her finger in the President’s face, she lectured him on how she had saved Arizona.
This is what President Obama had to say about the racist scene right out of Little Rock:
“I think it’s always good publicity for a Republican if they’re in an argument with me,” Obama said of their most recent meeting. “But this was really not a big deal. She wanted to give me a letter, asking for a meeting. And I said, ‘We’d be happy to meet.’
Wow. That really warrants this reaction...?

This was taken in 2009. She sure seems mighty friendly then, too.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer greets President Obama upon his arrival in Phoenix on Tuesday. (I just noticed this - that wouldn't be his finger in her face, would it?)

As Rohrabacher asked of the Maher panel, what did Brewer say that was so horrible? Notice they were all dumbstruck.

Brewer greeted Obama, the got into a discussion about her book, Obama didn't like how she characterized him, and he dismissed her. She was somewhat offended. Instead of discussing jobs and the boarder, Obama was irritated about her portrayal of him in their last meeting. Thin skinned sounds accurate. And she is NOT the only one to call him that. Many, many people on both sides of the aisle have done so. Google it for yourselves, if you don't believe me. There are too many to link.

That photo of Obama and Brewer doesn't tell the story anymore than this one did.

"I wish it were a much more interesting story than that, because I don't even recall the moment that it was occurring and I don't remember exactly what he said. But we didn't have any cross words." ~Ron Paul
Or anymore than these probably do:

Some people are just pointers, when they talk...

Does he mean like calling Bush President Shit for Brains? Or Obama President PoopyPants. Or saying that Bush is a gruesome boob, a rube, dolt, vain half-wit and a Gilligan who cannot find his ass. Or call for Bush's impeachment, accuse him of treason, or say he should be tried for war crimes. Or call Bush a redneck idiot....? That kind of respect, Bill?

Maher says the POTUS is owed respect, which is why we call them The President. Well, we also call Governors and Senators by their titles as well.

That doesn't stop Maher from calling them retarded, idiot, MILF, dumb twat, c*nt, boob, bimbo, pathetic, really stupid, or say that Palin would f*ck Gov. Perry, or say, "If only [Perry] was black, I’d fµck him" and about Brewer, “It’s very hard not to be condescending when you’re explaining something to an idiot.”

If Maher wants to lament about incivility, he need only look in the mirror. Republicans have listened to him for what, almost a decade, HATE on Bush, Cheney (wishing for him dead) and Conservatives and Christians. He helped create the toxic environment during the Bush years, and that continues today.

Cry me a river, Maher.

And please, for the love of all things sparkly, put away the over and misused race cards.

UPDATE: Of course this story wouldn't be complete with professional race baiter Jesse *Obama been talking down to black people, I want to cut his nuts off* Jackson jumping in.

Jesse Jackson Says Gov. Brewer ‘Gave President Obama the Finger’

She gave him the finger? LOL!

UPDATE X2: Via Tina, a commenter at Mediaite, who directed me to this Newsbusters post:

As NewsBusters previously reported, NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams on Thursday, reacting with predictably similar disgust as the rest of the media to the picture of Arizona Governor Jan Brewer pointing her finger at Barack Obama, asked viewers, "Who have you ever seen talking to the president like this?"

Maybe he should have looked in the archives of interviews he did with George W. Bush wherein he was guilty of making the exact same supposedly offensive hand gesture at the President of the United States (videos follow with loads of commentary):

This photo says it all, doesn't it?

Well, no. It doesn't.

  2. Good job on the article! It's getting harder to tell the difference between polititians and "big media."

  3. I did not see the anon category. Your blog on this issue is so much more informative than Mediate, you obviously focused on the "inform" part of the issue. Very capably done!

  5. I censor comments that are nothing but personal attacks, and add absolutely no value. Ones, like yours, that display how closed minded you are.

  7. Just checking in, it's getting so bad at the other place, so discouraging, ick! There's fewer and fewer of the old crowd that I looked forward to. I know I will forget many so I will just offer a handful of those I enjoy reading. You, Pablo, Gloves, Cecelia and where in the world did Grammy go?

    Happy Tuesday, Marla/Rio

  8. Sara, Mediate banned me at about 3 pm central. I only commented in the M&M, Bernie Goldberg/O'Reilly, OWS and the Super Pac threads. Have no idea why, don't think I broke any rules.

Now, what do you think about that? lol

  9. I was banned for about 30 seconds yesterday. It was weird. I think it was a mistake. I see they cleaned up the M&M thread. It drives me crazy that rrk and others can attack and make all kinds of nasty comments, and when I lash out back at them, they clean it up, instead of banning them. Maybe they did clean up that other person, I don't know. rrk needs to be banned. He is nasty, and offers nothing to the site. What happened to Michelle, too? Grammy is on twitter, and Johnny Dollar. She probably got sick of the site, like many have. Come back under a new name, that's what people always do! haha They seem to only ban Conservatives...

Needless to say, they aren't worth cluttering up my e-mail, just will go back to Flopping Aces or find another spot. Good Luck!
