spreading hate.... updated

Spreading hate is what Democrats are accusing Republicans of doing, but is exactly what they are doing themselves.

Before the suspect in the shooting in Arizona had been identified, many on the Left began pointing fingers and accusing Conservatives, Tea Partiers and Republicans of murder. (Although, after the Fort Hood shooting, those same people urged the public to not jump to conclusions.)
However, after the shooting of someone who happens to be a Democrat, Sarah Palin and Conservatives are blamed for mass murder commited by a lone shooter - a shooter that no one knew anything about.

If that's not inciting and spreading hate, I don't know what is.

Why blame Sarah Palin? Apparently, the answer is, why not?

Those on the Left, apparently, feel that this map, one I blogged about last March, is responsible for the deaths of six innocent victims.

Read these stories if you haven't seen them yet. Unbelievable.

No one bothered to mention that Democrats ran almost identical political maps to Palin's, the latter from the DCCC in 2009. Interesting...I wonder why?

Markos Moulitsas from the Daily Kos actually had the GALL to tweet “Mission Accomplished, Sarah Palin” after the incident because of her Target map.

So, when did Markos decide to scrub this target list from his web site? Before or after he tweeted, accusing Sarah Palin of causing mass murder?

And how about this article from Daily Kos? It was scrubbed, too.

Or how about these political ads:

Liberals don't have a problem with these ads by Democrats? No one bothered to wonder if these contributed to the hostile, violent atmosphere in politics?

I guess Democrats don't seem to find the rhetoric used by Obama inciteful?

Apparently rhetoric is only *hateful* when it comes from the Right. Apparently only Right wingers are capable of violence - despite all the evidence to the contrary. How many events have we seen lately that have occured, that have been blamed on the *violent rhetoric of the Right* only to find out it was committed by someone on the Left?

Bill Sparkman
Amy Bishop
Nidal Malik Hasan
Joe Stack
Michael Enright
J. Patrick Bedell....

This rush by Olbermann, Shultz, MSNBC, the sheriff in Arizona, CNN, Krugman, NBC, and many, many others was irresponsible, inflammatory and hateful. Plain and simple. No one thinks this puts a target on Palin, and other conservatives?

All of this hateful finger pointing is especially rich when there is nothing, NOTHING, to support their claims that this attack was caused by the political rhetoric of the Right, or that the shooter was a *right winger*.

Loughner's classmates said he was a left winger, at least in 2007. Loughner seems to have been obsessed with Gabby Griffords, keeping a letter she sent him in 2007, thanking him for attending her event. He was showing increasing signs of instability, worrying and scaring classmates and professors. "He wasn't especially political, Mr. Marriotti said, though he expressed frustration with the Bush Administration."

He believed the U.S. government was behind 9/11, and worried that governments were maneuvering to create a unified monetary system (“a New World Order currency” one friend said) so that social elites and bureaucrats could control the rest of the world.
On his YouTube page, he listed among his favorite books “Animal Farm” and “Brave New World” — two novels about how authorities control the masses. Other books in the wide-ranging list included “Mein Kampf,” ”The Communist Manifesto,” ”Peter Pan” and Aesop’s Fables.
Loughner registered to vote on Sept. 29, 2006, identifying himself as an independent.

Seriously, just WHO the HELL are *they* to self righteously point fingers and accuse the *right* of murder, much less of spewing hate?

Did they forget about ALL of this, from the last decade:

Don't miss O'Reilly's Talking Points Memo.

Instead of mourning the loss of those who died in the shooting, the Left chose to attack and accuse people on the right of murder. Without a shred of evidence, or proof. They need to think about that one, for a good long while. Who exactly are the ones spreading and spewing hateful bile?

Liberals don't want Rap music, video games or violent movies restricted or censored, blamed for encouraging or inciting violence, or to be held accountable or linked to violent crimes or behavior (even songs that glorify cop killing, misogyny, rape, murder). Yet somehow, Sarah Palin is responsible for mass murder because of a political map used by Democrats and Republicans alike?
Un-frickin-believable.

I would have SO much more to add to this if I were at home, on my own computer. This is just beyond the pale.

My thoughts go out to the families of all those involved. Especially the little girl, Christina-Taylor Green, who was born on 9/11/01.

  1. Two big differences: 8-)

    1) Sarah Palin used cross hairs, the dems just used bulls eyes (or donkeys eyes, in this case)

    2) when a Republican threatens violence, there is actually a chance of it getting carried out, when a Dem does, much less so

  2. Sara, thanks so much for this amazing post. I've seen so much hate and vitriol coming from the left, so much placing blame, and yet not able to see that they are the ones spewing the hate.

I admire Governor Palin; in the face of so much hatred being directed her way, she has remained silent and simply sent her prayers to those who are grieving. Would that everyone display a similar grace.

As for Jacques, I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not. I hope it's sarcasm, because otherwise it's just the same nonsense being spouted by the left. Bulls eyes are okay but cross hairs aren't? Please. And Dems can threaten violence but it's okay, they don't carry it out, but Repubs do? Really? Proof, please?

And, if you are being sarcastic, my apologies...

  3. Great post, Sara - you nailed it! That these folks do not see the hypocrisy of claiming hate speech on the right caused this, while they are engaging in hate speech themselves, is just staggering.

SO much of this is staggering in terms of those who are now calling for civility (Arianna Huffington? The one who just allowed Aaron Sorkin to write his profanity-laced factually twisted screed against Sarah Palin because she is a HUNTER? The one whose site attacked those of us who supported Hillary RELENTLESSLY until we were bullied away from the site? Now SHE is calling for an end to "toxic" language? Spare me.).

Thank you for this - and thanks again for the great images you put together. You rock!

  4. I stop by your blog from time to time, and when you decide to post, you put alot into it. Depressing, but well done.

I am absolutely sickened by what they are doing to Sarah Palin. I don't care if you agree with her or not, isn't there some level of decency people demand of themselves? What can make so many people wish death on Palin? Why? What could she possibly have done to deserve being treated like that? Not a single person responsible for those horrible tweets has been impacted by Palin (she is a private citizen for christ's sake, she hasn't put policies in place that could adversely effect anybody).

Those people are very, very, very sad excuses for Americans. Deceit, hatred and demonization seems to be what the Democrats stand for. And half the country is fine being associated with that? It's very depressing. I'm not crazy about Republicans either, but they look like saints in comparison. At least to me.

Hopefully, this is all a bad dream and I'll wake up in a country where half the people in it do not condone wishing death on an innocent woman just because they may not like her politics. Sorry for the ramble. -- SCOTT

  7. I see you made it back to Mediaite. Those bone heads again started blocking my post right after the Gifford shooting when I was only two defending against a landslide of lefty post stating that the right and Sarah Palin was the fault behind the shooting. Those people over there are really Pathetic! These are my words alone and do not come from this site! Thanks!

  9. I don't think so much attention should be given to the vitrol used by the left, or the right. The problem in this incident was gun control - or the lack of it.
Why should it take me longer to buy eggs and milk which can't kill anyone then it takes to buy a gun which can kill?
Gun control doesn't mean that a person cannot own a gun but that that person must be checked in a federal registry for criminal activity or mental health issues?
If there is not stricter gun control in all states incidents like the one in Arizona will happen again and again - no matter what the politicians say.

  10. The link to the Twitter video seems to have been pulled, but I think it is the same that is at http://vimeo.com/18685493
Also, a little typo detail but wasn't the little girl born on 9/11 (September 11, 2001 not 9-01-01)?
And to reassure SFIndie, yes, I was trying to be sarcastic.
And to j.doe, I would ask, if it takes you longer to buy eggs and milk than a gun, you would seem either too picky about your dairy products, or you need to stop buying hens and cows just because the sign says "automatic egg dispenser" or "milk served below" as it is probably too much work...
Stricter gun control does not limit arms from those that really want to have them...

  11. To Jacques,
I don't know if you have a blog or not so I'll respond to your comment here, if you don't mind Sara.
As long as there are different states with different types of gun control I do agree with you that gun control does not limit anyone from owning them. A person from a stricter gun control state like New York can simply drive to Arizona and legally buy a gun there, but if there were national limitations to who can own a gun and what type of gun can be owned, then a gun control can indeed limit those who legally own them.
Too many people in the US die of gun wounds.
I don't think the hateful rhetoric on either side of the political spectrum is helping, but it seems to me that most people on both sides use words and those don't kill. I still think it's better that everyone has a limited acces to guns.

  12. thanks for the typo correction J. I totally flubbed that one.

    J.Doe, comment away! :O)

  13. Sorry J.Doe, just to clarify, but I definitely didn't say "that gun control does not limit anyone from owning them", I said (or intended to) that gun control will only limit or pose difficulties, or increased bureaucracy and effort for those that don't really care about having one or those that are willing to obey all the laws and regulations and restrictions; while those that really do want one, whether legally or not, whether there are gun control restrictions or not, will always find a way (or one of many ways) to have one (even if all 57 States impose strict gun control regulations).
