Why was he fired?
Sanchez seems to think Jon Stewart mocks him because he is Hispanic, and because Stewart is a bigoted Jew! (Oh, and CNN is run by the Joooos!)
Oh, Rick...Rick...Rick... it has nothing to do with racism or bigotry. Now, that's not to say there isn't a bit of elitism amongst Liberals, especially those in the *biz* - we see how they love to mock Conservatives and tea partiers, for example, as bitter clingers, racist hicks, etc.
But Stewart mocks Sanchez not because of "the way he looks or speaks" (Uh, like a white guy...) But because of what he SAYS.

CNN just went up a notch.
Cross posted at Story Balloon, who were very nice, and fixed my videos when they refused to work correctly for me over there!

ReplyDeleteI have to disagree with you, wholeheartedly here.
ReplyDeleteAs someone from Miami, where Sanchez began his career at WSVN (local Fox affiliate), I can tell you that he is not a left winger, but rather a Cuban American, probably tilting right of center.
Granted, at CNN I will concede you he shifted his views (though this is not odd in the industry as we see the shuffling chairs at Fox, CNN, MSNBC, etc. and how people tilt their analysis/viewpoints)
On that point, did you ever use to hear your Mormon boy wonder, Beck, when he was at CNN during the Bush administration??? And of course this is the same person that denounces people like Teddy Roosevelt, John McCain, etc. who actually fought for this nation, as opposed to crying after hemorrhoid operations.
As for Jon Stewart, I find your defense of a true Limousine Liberal, which engages in the most odious rhetoric, rather odd??? (Stewart is not even his real name)
I, too, like Sanchez grew up in Miami amongst thousands of Jews, even have via marriage on my brother's side, Cuban Jewish relatives and I am as pro Israel, as you are going to find....Sanchez is NOT an anti-Semite.
Did he phrase things and/or respond to a question in a manner that was improper, I think so, but compared to the things said by others, i.e. Maddow, Olbermann, Matthews, Martin, etc. it is rather light.
Being white? How many Hispanics do you know? I am of Spanish descent and if you travel to Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, southern Brazil, you are going to find people who are as white and as of pure European descent as in the northeast or say midwest, etc??????? I am PROUDLY white....
Sanchez is a white Cuban American.
If you notice he was attacking both the right and the left in his remarks (though I disagree with his anti Fox stance) and really was discussing the typical northeastern, elitist attitude which pervades and if you haven't figured that one out, respectfully, you are not attuned to what has been happening in politics for many decades.
If I were Roger Ailes, I would sweep him up....he is Hispanic but to the right of someone like say, Gerald Rivera, and he has ALWAYS been a staunch anti-communist.
Hi! Cute blog! I am your newest follower!!
ReplyDeleteSara, I am amazed that in our local paper, the AP showed a photo of the One Nation rally that made it seem it was very well attended, as much as Beck's. Yet, the AP noted there weren't as many people there (though I am not sure that made it into my local paper): http://www.mediaite.com/online/yes-glenn-becks-rally-was-officially-bigger-than-yesterdays-one-nation-rally/
ReplyDeleteInteresting.
Abt Sanchez. Am I wrong in recalling that he was a pretty big jerk abt Hillary Clinton? If so, that is okay by CNN, but saying something abt a comedian is grounds for dismissal. Do I have that right?
Keep up the great work!
